Wedding: Marilou and Jed

Friday, February 19th, 2010

Marilou and Jed had an unconventional wedding. First, they did not don proper wedding attire – no dress, no tux, no anything.

What was cool was that it was super relaxed. Our portraits took place at Disney Concert Hall followed by some graffiti stomping grounds prior to the wedding reception. I loved their reception introduction – James Bond theme song electric violin! I want that for my own wedding in the future.

The reception was full of drinks, white decorations, white furniture, fancy neon lights, and FIRE DANCERS! Fire Groove is probably the best that I know of! They were recently on “Man vs. Food” cable television show! Check out the pictures!

Nokia Center (LA Live)

la live nokia center

Is it LA Live or Nokia Center? Weirdness. It’s known as both. Having never been there, I decided to take my girlfriend and perused the place. As grand as it looked, it did not take too long to complete…say one circle. One cool perk of the center is the enormous Starbucks!

If you are wondering whether I’m going to post any weddings, the answer is yes. Just not yet. I’ve been so busy.

Be well,

Lawrence Chan

Downtown Los Angeles

Friday, January 8th, 2010

Fellow Los Angelenos, you probably feel my pain. Traffic on the 10 freeway (or any other freeway for that matter) is a parking lot. Driving on local streets would probably utilize the same amount of time, but I opted for that route so that I could at least occupy my mind with red lights and stop signs.

Midway home from The Grove, I decided to pull over in Downtown LA. It’s rare that locals get to see these sky scrapers from afar due to the thick smog. Today was different. Maybe it was the holidays, so there were significantly less vehicles. Or maybe because we’re in the middle of winter and the winds blow our nasty emissions to some other poor city. Either way, Downtown LA glowed nicely on my way home.

I fed the meter a few quarters and took a 10 minute break setting up my tripod. Snap, snap, snap, snap, snap, I was done.

Ciao bella,

Lawrence Chan
